Cat flea collars functions as flea killers and preventers trough producing toxic gas which kills fleas but doesn’t harm cats. Gas is also absorbed in skin fat layer so it covers larger area than just a neck, which is spot which fleas love the most.

There are more types of cat flea collars.

Most effective are to be so called IGR collars. IGR stands for insect growth regulator. They prevent egg and larval development as well, which some of other types don’t.

Natural flea collars also exist and are made of natural substances which are proven to be harmless to pets and humans. They contain oils, like citronella, tea and rosemary.
